About The Photographer
“Just your regular 20 something year old girl... I’m kinda like batman...but instead of fighting crime, I take pictures.”

Although born and raised in Kamloops, BC, I live in Calgary, AB with my chocolate lab (also known as the fur baby) Hartigan and my sphynx, Moriarty. More often than not they are the subjects of my photographic experiments, and as such they make appearances on the blog.

I’m a self proclaimed photo nerd. Although I’ve been taking photos my whole life (ask my mom about the photo session with my toy trolls) and I’ve always had an interest in photography, I only took the dive into serious photo in 2010.

I’m a creative kind of person with a big heart. When I’m not taking photos, reading about photo or thinking about photo you can usually find me at home, so you could say I’m a bit of a homebody. Don’t get me wrong though, I love to go out and have a good time.

I was raised by my super awesome spectacular mom... with some guidance from my grandparents and great grandmother. Family plays a big influence in my life and I sometimes wonder if it was that fact that guided me into life photography. Family is a corner stone of life photography.

I currently work in an office for an airline, so my schedule can sometimes be a little tricky but hopefully this helps you get to know me. I’m looking forward to getting to know you!

About The Wishing Star Gallery

The WSG opened January 2010. A more apt description might be to say it appeared. The blog originally started as an online place for me to blog about my introduction to “serious photography,” so in other words, learning! My grandmother and my mom both have interests in photography as well and in all honesty, the WSG started as a page where I could post new techniques and things I was learning without having to email them!

I’m pretty happy to say that since then, the WSG has grown to much more than photos of my husband, my dog and anything else I can catch in my viewfinder. I have been blessed to have been invited into people’s lives to capture their special moments. And it’s not just about the special moments, it’s about those warm fuzzy moments in between, the ones that generally go undocumented but that stick out in a person memory.

The WSG is home to my amateur photography. Although I do charge, it’s not nearly as much as you might pay for another photographer. I don’t believe in charging an arm and a leg for photos because I’m still learning. Photography is an art and a science and in neither subject can one ever stop learning!

And as for the star......well some things are better left a mystery.

About the Wishing Star Gallery Site

I love blog site hybrids. Just love them. So that’s the feel I went for with this layout. The Wishing Star Gallery version 1.0 was a classic black design and was your standard blog. (The layout matched the business cards :D) Welcome to version 2.0. Now that I have more of an idea of which direction I would like to take my photography in, I thought it was about time to incorporate some distinctive style and colour and life into my life photography website! Now there's just a few things to tweak....
