Lifestyle | Honoured Queen Krysta-lyn

This blog post is LONG overdue and I apologize to Krysta-lyn for not posting it sooner! I posted pictures on the facebook page to tide her over but I wanted to actually blog about her session.

Krysta-lyn is a member of Job's Daughters. If you follow the blog regularly you'll notice I've had the honour of photographing several members of the organization. Job's Daughters (or Jobies) is a youth group for young women between the ages of 10-20 who are related to a Mason. (Shriner, Mason, Knight Templar. You can find out more about Masons by clicking here.) Jobies is an organization where girls learn life long skills like public speaking, etiquette and business meeting skills. The group provides a sort of comradery and friendship, so much so that some girls are so close with one another that they identify themselves as family on facebook! They have fun events like sleepovers, movie nights and picnics. They also have a serious side to their activities, like fundraising for local (and international) charities, volunteering at public events and competing in competitions on a provincial and international level.

You can learn more about Job's Daughters at http://www.iojd.org/ or about Alberta Job's Daughters at http://www.iojd.ca/

But Krysta-lyn isn't just any member of Jobies. Up until recently she was the presiding Honoured Queen (a office/position like President in a club) of one of the local groups here in Calgary. In order to achieve such a position, Krysta-lyn was elected by the other members of her branch, so you can see why it's such an honour to be queen. Get it, it's a play on words. :)

Here are a few of my favourites from her session!

Every Honoured Queen gets to pick a mascot. Krysta-lyn chose hippos! (I LOVE hippos)

Every Honoured Queen gets their own gavel (usually given to them by their family) to use to run the meetings. Krysta-lyn is a third generation Honoured Queen so we decided to take a photo of her with all three gavels from her family.

Krysta-lyn displays her customized sounding block for her gavel. It's even got her theme for her term as Honoured Queen.
