Farm Life in the City

Tonight while scouting out a few locations for a shoot this weekend, I went to Bow Valley Ranch. It's actually a historic park located inside Fish Creek Park in Calgary. It's a fun little spot. On the property are a few historic houses and tributes to the founders. The Ranch also has a fine dining restaurant and a bakery! Definitely worth a trip on weekend....

Bella

No she doesn't spend her time hanging out with vampires and werewolves. Bella did however meet her fair share of shady characters before she was adopted from the Calgary Pound. She is a beautiful tri-colour collie who is adapting well to life with her new family.

Many people who are looking to purchase a pet often do not consider the pound because they want to train the animal from scratch, or want a young dog. I'll admit, even I was hesitant to think about owning a pound pup, but what I learnt during a trip to the City of Calgary Animal Services Department surprised me. Many of the animals are not even a year old, and are infact well trained. Bella for example, before being adopted, knew commands such as sit, stay and shake. She was also completely house trained.

If you are considering purchasing/adopting a pet, please consider looking at your local pound. And if you live in the Calgary area, please visit the City of Calgary's Animal Services website.

Hartigan also tagged along to play with Bella... but unfortunately after the first fifteen minutes he was more interested in the ball...and drooling all over it.

Spring Bloom

Last month as the flowers began to bloom I commented how I missed having a big yard to take pictures of flowers in. One simply can't go into a stranger's front yard to take pictures, but while walking around my neighbourhood I got the urge to do exactly that. So instead of getting charged trespassing, I bought a little kit for a blush calla lily. We'll have to see if it actually works out though...

Good Things Come In 3s

This afternoon I photographed three siblings who were looking to give their mom with a present for Mother's Day. Amanda, Brian and Shaun each have a hilarious, albeit a little dirty, sense of humour and it came through in a lot of the photos. Here are a few of my favourites...

Randoms Galore

The title is pretty self evident really... I seem to be in a blogging mood today! I stumbled across a random file of photos that I had taken but had never done anything with.
This past summer Shaun and I went flying in a little cessna plane. Although I have flown on private planes a few times, it was a first for Shaun. He even flew the plane for awhile, despite not being completely "okay with the idea." Like any photographer I couldn't resist capturing the moment.
Although it was still spring when I took this, at no point through out the year does this fountain have water in it.

Although loons do return to the same lakes and rivers every year, they are not monogamous like swans. It looks like this feather romance may be over before anything even starts.

It's always important to remember that although we live in a free country, it wasn't always free.

I admit that this picture is entirely to comemorate my disney purse. :D

Butterflies and Jewellery

I realized I hadn't posted any pictures lately and this one I snapped off earlier this morning.
