Maternity :: Tracey + Rakesh

As a life photographer, I prefer to shoot outside...which can at times be difficult given the fact that Mother Nature gets final say on the outcome of my sessions.  We were plagued by rain and thunderstorms twice while I tried to get together with Tracey and Rakesh for their maternity session.  I'm happy to say that the product was worth the wait.  The climate ended up being perfect last week for their shoot and we were blessed with over an hour and half of the magical sun glow us photographers aim for.

I couldn't resist a few sun spot photos...

Newborn Session:: Nap time snap shot

This photo was for a fantastic couple for whom I had the pleasure of shooting nearly two years ago... when I was photographing this sweet little girl's big brother!  More photos to come later- I just wanted to spotlight this one.

Maternity

Occasionally I will post some personal shots of mine up here.  Usually this happens when I'm all caught up on my edits and I feel particularly inspired to share... this would be one of those times. :)

This evening I went outside with my chocolate lab, Hartigan to take photos of him.  Unfortunately he was more inclined to play with his ball than pose for photos....  So I pulled out my tripod for a couple of self maternity portraits since my belly seems to be growing quickly!  (Well, all of me seems to be growing, much to my dismay but that's to be expected when you substitute your gym routine for a napping routine.)

I shot with another photographer once who insisted that the hardest photos to take were self portraits because you have to rely on your skills to set your camera properly and then step out from behind the control of the camera.  Although I don't do self portraits often, when I do I try to experiment with my settings.

 Hugs from Hartigan are always nice... although somewhat drooly.

News :: From the Wishing Star Gallery...

Well if you check the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wishingstargallery) you might have already seen the big news already but I figured I would make it blog official.  Plenty of folks have seen my chocolate lab Hartigan before on the blog and some of you may know his little brother, Moriarty.  (Seen below.)  Don't let Hartigan's expression in the above photo fool you, I think he's pretty excited about getting a human.

With the arrival of the little bundle of joy slated for only a few months away, I will not be taking any bookings in September.  I will be shooting up until August and tentatively re-opening in October but it will be on a limited basis.

So you know what that means everybody.... email me now to book your annual fall family sessions and let's make them a fun in the sun family session!

Family :: Cassandra & Co.

Oh my goodness... It was so nice to shoot for Cassandra and her little family last month.  I've had the pleasure of doing two other sessions for them and this one is by far my favourite.  Never could I have suspected that this adorable little munchkin, who couldn't even speak when I first photographed him, would turn into such a high intensity, adventure seeking little boy!  He's got more personality in his little pinky than some folks have in their whole body and I'm excited to see how he changes through the years, especially with his mom and dad getting married.

Love :: Mark & Shannon

Just two quick snapshots from Mark & Shannon's mini photo session in March.  It was a little chilly out but Shannon was a champ- plus she had Mark to keep her warm!

Happy Birthday Princess Madison

For the last few years I have had the distinct pleasure of shooting each of Madison's birthdays. I was thrilled this year when her mom told me that this year they would be celebrating her birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth and I was invited to come along to shoot her once in a life time experience!

Now obviously we did an entire day at Disneyland but that would probably over whelm everyone with photos... there was over 500 photos on their disc from one day! Here's some of my favourites from that morning...

Hair is almost done.  Make up is done!

Oh my... Madi- are you sure about this hairdo you picked out?

After meeting her favourite princess we made a slight adjustment to Madison's royal attire for the day...

That day there were parades, adventures and even supper at Goofy's kitchen.  Then we returned to Main Street to watch the fireworks and take in Disney at night!
